Termites & timber pests

Termite treatment and timber pest inspections, done to the standard

Termites cause more damage to Perth homes than fire, and they work out of sight. We treat to AS 3660 and inspect to AS 4349.3, with photos and a clear report you can act on.

Termite management

Why it matters

Termites, often called white ants, can cause thousands of dollars of damage to a home. They serve a real role in nature, breaking down dead trees, but they are secretive, working inside mud tunnels they build through or around timber and other materials. Termites cause more damage to homes than fire.

How to tell if you have termites

  • Crumbling or damaged skirting boards, smooth edges or floorboards
  • Mud galleries on a ceiling, work bench or on stored boxes in the shed
  • Termites found in landscaping timbers, old stumps or mulch

How to manage them

A termite inspection should be part of your home maintenance. We recommend a professional inspection at least once a year, with protective treatments to AS 3660 renewed every five years.

Our treatments

Chemical treatments to AS 3660 are installed to keep termites out of a building. There are two types:

  • Localised (spot) treatment. Applied to an area away from the building, for example a tree stump, garden edge or fence post, often as an interim measure.
  • Perimeter treatment. Keeps termites away from the main dwelling. We strongly recommend perimeter treatments in line with AS 3660.

Pre-purchase timber pest inspections

Before you buy

Timber pests, especially termites, are notorious for costly damage. When you buy a property it is wise to include a special condition, commonly called a White Ant Condition, that makes the terms of the timber pest inspection clear and verifiable.

What we inspect

We complete a timber pest inspection to Australian Standard AS 4349.3 - 1998, the nationally accepted standard for timber pest inspections and reports. We inspect all areas of the property:

  • Roof timber
  • Internal areas
  • Outbuildings
  • Fencing
  • Everything in between

We inspect for termites, wood decay fungi and borer.

How it works

We recommend inspecting 2 to 3 weeks before settlement. We take photos for the report so we can clearly explain what we found at your property. We email the report to you and to your settlement agent, and the invoice goes to the settlement agent for payment at settlement. Once you have the report, you are welcome to call any time, including after hours, to talk it through.

We are fully licensed with the Health Department of WA and insured for your peace of mind. Contact us directly or through your real estate agent to organise an inspection.
